FWATA Honors and Awards

It is time to honor the FWATA members who have achieved the pinnacle recognition in athletic training. The FWATA Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor any member of FWATA can achieve.  It is to recognize dedicated members who have spent countless hours as an athletic trainer, mentoring students and athletes as well as volunteering their personal time to advance the Athletic Training profession.

This year, we will be inducting the 2017 FWATA Hall of Fame:

Carolyn Peters, MA, ATC, CSCS

Education: San Diego State University- Kinesiology/Athletic Training (MA & BA)

Career: San Diego Christian College- Athletic Director/Senior Women’s Administrator (2016-present) & Head Athletic Trainer/Head Strength Coach (2013-present); ATC Spotter, NFL (2012-present);  Grossmont Community College-Lab Instructor (2016-present); San Diego State University-Lecturer/Adjunct Professor (1998-2015), Athletic Trainer (1992-2013) & Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach (1989-1992)

 Volunteer Service: NATA District 8 Director (2014-2018); NATA District Secretary & Treasurers Committee Chairperson/Vice Chairperson (2010-2014); NATA District 8 Executive Board-Secretary (2008-2014); NATA Annual Meeting Career Assistance Project Team (2008-2014) & Career Center Team Leader (2007); Board of Certification Examiner, model & host (1994-2007); California Athletic Trainers Association Secretary (2004-2007) & Region 6 Director (2001-2003)

The purpose of this award is to recognize those members who have given outstanding service and dedication to the Athletic Training Profession and FWATA.

The FWATA Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort. 5:00pm Social. Those attending the FWATA Annual Meeting the Awards Dinner is a ticketed event with one ticket included for each registrant. Additional tickets are available to purchase. Register here.
