Carolyn completed both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees at San Diego State University in Kinesiology and Athletic Training.

She was recently promoted to Athletic Director at San Diego Christian College while continuing to serve as Senior Women’s Administrator & Head Athletic Trainer/Head Strength Coach.  In addition to her roles at SDC, Carolyn works as an ATC Spotter for the NFL, teaches courses at San Diego State University and Grossmont College and works as a Service Dog Trainer for Paws’itive Teams in San Diego.  Prior to working at San Diego Christian College she was at San Diego State University for 26 years as a Lecturer/Adjunct Professor, Athletic Trainer & Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.

The impact of Carolyn’s leadership and vision are found at the local, district and national levels.  These include:

Current NATA District 8 Director. Former NATA District Secretary & Treasurers Committee Chairperson/Vice Chairperson,  NATA District 8 Executive Board-Secretary, NATA Annual Meeting Career Assistance Project Team & Career Center Team Leader,  Board of Certification Examiner, California Athletic Trainers’ Association Secretary & Region 6 Director.

Past Honors & Awards include San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation Medical Champion Award (2016); NAIA Baseball World Series (2014); FWATA D8 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer (2012); SDSU Robert J. Moore Distinguished Athletic Alumna (2009); NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award (2008); FWATA D8 Special Recognition Award (2007); Mountain West Conference Sportsmanship Award—Men’s Golf (2005); San Diego Hall of Champions Breihard Certificate of Athletic Achievement (1995).

Nominator Michael West, MS, ATC, Martin Luther King High School Principal notes, “Carolyn sets herself apart from other Athletic Trainers in California through her passion for the profession and commitment to being a strong leader. ….she has left an indelible mark on the Athletic Training profession in the Far West and across the country.”

Carolyn Greer presented Ms. Peters the award saying  “I was honored to present Carolyn Peters with the FWATA Hall of Fame award.  Her selfless commitment to the NATA and FWATA is unparallelled.  In addition, her daily commitment to excellence in her work and personal life exemplify the basis for the award.”

Carolyn Peters’ induction to the Hall of Fame was emotional, heartwarming and well deserved.  Hall of Famer Peters said  “I cannot express what an amazing and emotional moment this was for me and my family.  Thinking about the moment Bill put the Hall of Fame ring on my finger still chokes me up.  I wear it and share Bill’s thoughts, “it’s a career, not an event.”  Thanks again to the members and volunteers for attending and arranging a most memorable evening.” says Director Peters.
