Carolyn Greer Honored at 73rd Annual Salute to the Champions

The FWATA PR committee is pleased to share that on Jan 31, 2019 Carolyn Greer was Honored during the the San Diego Sports Association Salute to Champions event. This Sports Gala honors both individual and team accomplishments from stars of the month to all-time greats. She shared a class of honorees that included Steve Fisher, Meb and Phillip Rivers. What was a 5’2 head athletic trainer doing at this event? She was being honored for her work not only as an amazing person, but an exceptional Athletic Trainer. On this special night, alongside so many names, Carolyn was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Diego Sports Association.

If you don’t know Carolyn she had been the Head Athletic Trainer at the University of San Diego (USD) for the past 40 years, retiring this past July (2018). A Bay area native who attended San Diego State as a gymnast, she went on to graduate from the Kinesiology program and become one of the first female head athletic trainers in Division 1 school by taking on the role at USD. Those who were fortunate enough to work beside her, learn from her and play because of her, know she was more than deserving of this award. Congratulations Miss Carolyn!
