CATA 6th Annual Symposium and 8th Annual Hit the Hill

The CATA wrapped up our 6th annual Leader Development Conference and Clinical Symposium on Sunday Feb. 21st.  The meeting was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, CA.  241 attendees registered for the clinical symposium and were able to get up to 19 CEUs. Among those 19 CEUs, the CATA was able to offer 5 of those as EBP CEUs!  One highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of the new CATA logo. The new logo aligns with the NATA logo as well as showcases the state of California. We would like to thank the CATA Symposium Program Committee for another great and informative meeting!!

The 8th annual Hit the Hill was on Monday Feb. 22nd.  We had a record number of participants and meetings!  The 164 ATs and students were organized in 100+ meetings with California state legislators.  We continue to be a large presence in Sacramento and we are happy to say that legislators are remembering us and our profession because of large events like this.  This year we were there to support Assembly Bill 2007.  AB 2007 (McCarty) would require sport associations outside of schools to have a concussion management plan…think AYSO, Little League, Peewee Football.  The end goal continues to be Licensure for ATs in CA but while we continue to work behind the scenes to set the foundation for a successful regulation campaign we are staying relevant by sponsoring necessary youth safety legislation.  Hit the Hill is crucial to the momentum for CATA efforts. Thank you to all participants of HTH this year and to the CATA Governmental Affairs Committee for organizing this event!
