Student Leadership Committee

Committee Mission & Members

Thank you for visiting the Far West Student Leadership Committee page.  Please review the following information regarding student leadership responsibilities.

The mission of the Far West Student Leadership Committee is to identify and address any and all issues and concerns pertinent to athletic training students in the collegiate and university setting.

The role the FWSLC plays in regards to FWATA & District 8:

  • It provides a collaborative atmosphere between students within the district to foster advocation for the Athletic Training profession.
  • It allows students to get involved with the planning and execution of the annual District 8 meeting, including coordinating the student leadership breakfast and speakers for the student sessions

The FWSLC is made up of the FWSLC Chair (President), Vice Chair, Secretary, and three Sub-committee Chairs. All positions (expect the Chair) are elected amongst the members of the committee and are available to all members.

The three Sub-committees include: Annual Meeting, Student Outreach, and Nominations.

  • Annual Meeting: In-charge of planning the D8 Student Leadership Breakfast held at the annual meeting
  • Student Outreach: In-charge of social media and getting students throughout the district informed and involved through social media or other forms of communication with athletic training programs
  • Nominations: In-charge of promoting and selecting the incoming committee as well as notifying FWATA student members about committee vacancies and reviewing applications

General responsibilities of being a member on the FWSLC include:

  • Be an active leader and participant in committee activities
  • Respond to all committee related communication within 24-48 hours
  • Attend and participate in every conference call. Be prepared to adjust your schedule (clinical, extracurricular, etc.) to participate in an online meeting once or twice a month
  • Attend the FWATA annual meeting and maintain NATA membership
  • Be a representative of the athletic training profession through involvement in the community

Thank you your interest in serving on the Far West Student Leadership Committee (FWSLC)! We are excited you wish to represent your school, and commend you for taking the initiative to further your involvement in the athletic training profession.
