Big West NATM Project
Big West Conference athletic trainers collaborated to celebrate National Athletic Training Month by giving back to the community. Spearheaded by UC Riverside, CSUN and UCSB also joined in on the effort. The goal for the month was to encourage staff and student athletes to collect toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.) from hotel travels.
The ATs made hygiene kits out of the collected goods and donated them to local rape crisis centers, homeless vets, and emergency rooms. In all, 80 pounds of toiletries were collected! The groups received very positive feedback from their respective charities where the donations went. Despite competing against each other year-round, the athletic trainers came together as a team to make a difference across multiple communities. We hope to continue this tradition of teamwork during NATM for future years to come!
