Local ATs Assist the Honolulu Marathon
Local athletic trainers and athletic training students from Japan helped a Japanese running club with evaluations, pre and post race treatment, taping, massaging and icing during the Honolulu Marathon which took place on December 8th. This community of Japanese athletic trainers working in Hawaii has increased over the past decade and has been helping the Japanese running club, consisting of over 200 mostly novice runners, since 2008. Marathon race day finds the athletic trainers with long hours and unique challenges but when they see the smiles and sense of accomplishment in the runners, they feel that they’re ‘finishers’ as well.
